Count Your Blessings

Words: Johnson Oatman Jr., 1897 · Music: Edwin O. Excell, 1897 · Public domain. Leading up to Thanksgiving.

Henry's tip: The verse uses only the 1 and the 5 (E♭ and B♭7). Hold the B♭ in your right hand through both chords. Only your other fingers move.

Key of E♭15

E♭When upon life's billows you are B♭7tempest tossed,

E♭count your many blessings, name them B♭7one by one,

Colors show the number. They stay the same in every key.

    I was not born a gospel pianist.Henry Q Allen

I started learning piano at thirty-five. My pastor asked me to become the church musician, and I had to learn it by ear, without sheet music. I have played every Sunday since March 2007.

I am also legally blind. That is why everything here comes in large print. It is the way I need it at the piano.

This site is what I wish someone had shown me back then.
