Key Change Trainer

The leader takes the last chorus up a key and the band follows, or the next song starts in a different key. This is where many church pianists freeze or reach for the transpose button. Practice it here until it is easy.

The numbers do not change. Only the letters do. A 1, 4, 5 song is still 1, 4, 5 in the new key.

To get into any new key: find the new 1, play its 5 seven chord, and land on the new 1. That 5 seven is the door chord.

Same numbers on every line. Only the letters move. The door chord has the red border.

2. From one song to the next

The first song ends in one key and the next song starts in another. End the first song on its 1, then play the 2 minor seven and the 5 seven of the new key, and the choir will hear where home is.

Ten quick questions. No sound needed, but you can tap Hear it after each answer.
